Rutherford Creek Artificial Course

As part of the mitigation settlement regarding the micro-hydro project which is being built on Rutherford Creek, near Pemberton, BC, an artificial whitewater facility is being constructed using the flow from the tailrace of the power generation facility.

This facility is the result of more than 4 years of negotiation and work; the result of input from hundreds of volunteers, all totaling many thousands of man-hours.

The development and construction of the artificial course is a co-operative effort involving; the project developer, Rutherford Creek Power Limited and the WKABC. The goal is to have the facility completed and turned over to the WKABC by June 1 2006. This revised delivery date is explained on the updates pages to the right.

Check back for updates, or get on the e-mail list to receive updates.

During the fall of 2005, and during the spring of 2006 there will be a need for significant volunteer input from the WKABC, in order to complete the course testing, and get the facility open and running for paddlers.
