Met with the insurance company regarding the site - and what that will mean for the WKABC's
insurance coverage, and our existing policy. Good response in that the site, and facilities will not significantly impact our existing policy, and the increased premium seems reasonable. Discussed use by commercial operators (be they kayak, canoe, raft, ducky, etc) and this was met with good response. No premium increase for these activities, provided: a) the companies carry their own liability insurance, b) co-name the WKABC to provide coverage of the association, c) are whitewater related activities, d) follow all policies that the WKABC establishes, e) all participants and companies are members of the WKABC. The latest plan view of the course is on the left - and reflects the desire to move the course as close to the highway as feasible, so as to offer the most protection. Please provide any comments. Old creek channel is in DARK BLUE, new creek channel is in LIGHT BLUE, old course layout is in GREEN, and new course layout is in RED. |

Met at site with engineers to review the latest survey information and to walk the site to review the latest
thoughts on the location of the channel. The photos on the left detail the focus of discussions regarding moving
the channel to the north so as to avoid the post-flood creek channel, which, in the lower area of the course,
is now further to the north, and about 1-2 metres higher than before.
This will likely necessitate moving the teaching pond to the north as well, and the new course channel will exit more toward the north, as indicated in Photo 4. Details will be posted when the engineers send the updated layout plan view. |

After a survey of the site by the engineers, the PDF file on the left details a possible new course layout.
This will have no impact on the upper portion of the course, however the lower portion, near the
pool will need to be reinforced with significantly larger rip-rap (similar or larger than that used in
the powerhouse area) as the stream bed now runs straight at the pool area.
The survey also reveals that the lower area (near the original course exit) is now 1 m higher than it was before the flood event. This means that the channel will need to moved (or excavated) to retain the original gradient. The DFO has stated that the creek channel may not be excavated to move it. The rearrangement of the area near the end of the course will allow for approximately 100 - 150 m of channel (though without concrete in the channel) and move the course so that the lower end retains the elevation originally in place. Please review this file and comment as soon as possible. More details after a meeting next week with the engineers. |

| Met at site today - walked the old channel, and surveyed
the damage. Looks like the creek bed has moved river-right in the upper
portion of the course, which is good, however, in the lower area near the
proposed pool, the stream appears to have moved river-left. In addition
the current creek bed runs directly at the old pool location - a real concern
in any future high water events. The contractor did a helicopter survey of the course area, to look at other possible course routing. This and the new ground survey will be analyzed by the engineers, and the WKABC will be notified in the next few weeks, as to possible course rebuilding options (as was or revised routing). The sequence of shots below shows the views in the old course channel - beginning at the outlet of the powerhouse and moving downstream. 1 - Powerhouse Outlet 2 - Looking DS from start 3 - First Rapid Area 4 - Looking US to Squamish Canyon 5 - Looking DS from near V-Box 6 - Looking DS - RL shift of bed 7 - Looking US from near pool 8 - Looking DS to damaged pool 9 - Looking US from pool area Of note is the rearrangement of the channel below Photo 4. Above this the channel is disturbed, but in essentially the same condition as pre-flood. Below Photo 4, the channel has moved river left significantly, and has rearranged a lot of material. In both cases the course would have been inundated with bed-load and significant amounts of material would have been deposited. Thoughts of the committee were to look to moving the pool upstream, and to moving the course channel as far to the left as possible - this may mean some changes to the current plan - and to possible future expansions which were allowed for. After the walk through - a draft set of broad guidelines for a protocol for use of the finished site was roughed in, and this will be detailed in later meetings, pending a response from the insurer (see minutes). |

| Post flood photos show the current stream channel has moved
river right, and away from the artificial course. Scour of the channel has
increased the gradient, and dropped the base of the creek down approximately 3 metres
along the area of the course. The bedding of the channel work which was
done this summer looks to be damaged, and will, at the least, require re-excavation.
Sunday November 9 meeting at the site - RSVP needed, time: 10 Am - 2 PM. Meet on the north side of the Highway 99 bridge over the Rutherford. |

| Met with engineers, contractor, and developer - discussed
damage to course, and revised schedule for completion - which will depend
on the damage analysis, and delay as the contractor has been requisitioned
to rebuild the Highway 99 bridge. The course channel which had been put
in place was damaged by the flooding, which took out the highway bridge,
and the RR bridge. The contractor has builder's insurance, and will be reimbursed
to restore the course. Question is whether it will be cheaper and easier
to do it in another area (at the same site). Contractor and insurer to speak.
Will advise. Looks like the reconstruction will be delayed until spring.
Need meeting re: protocol for use of the site. Arranged for digital files to be made available. Message to follow. |

Course development meeting occurred on site. We walked the
course layout area, and I shot the sequence of photos, detailing the course
channel location. Some features were already staked out in terms of the
plan view (see photos 7 & 8). We reviewed the models, which are stored on site, and the latest drawings, then discussed the anticipated course construction schedule, and how we can coordinate volunteer labor. Assigned "team leaders", Sam Maltby, Roger Warnatsch, and Andrew Mylly - who will coordinate local teams of 4-5 people when we need the labor. Concerns over defining what amount of labor is needed, and what it will entail, so we can solicit volunteers more effectively. 1 - Start Area 2 - Squamish Canyon Area 3 - R Turn at Access Rd 4 - Open area near "Beach Feature" 5 - Squamish Canyon Area 6 - Transition Area 7 - V-Box Feature 8 - Chicken Run Area 9 - Corner by Pool 10 - Pool Area 11 - Twin Falls Area |
