WKABC Insurance Information

As a service to our member clubs, the WKABC carries a 5 Million Dollar insurance policy that covers our members, and member clubs.

This liability insurance covers leaders, instructors, coaches, our member clubs, and the general membership when participating in WKABC sanctioned events.

Riders are also available to cover third-party agencies, such as swimming pools, rec centres, community halls, land owners, and other agencies that may need to have proof of coverage before allowing members access to the facility or location.

Please note: Our insurance policy covers only our members, so if the event you are running has both members and non-members participating, ensure that the non-members are covered - which may be done by submitting a request for Day of Event Membership.

River Impacts Issues

Sanctioning of Class IV or Higher Events

For events which take place on whitewater which is Class IV or more difficult, event organizers must submit an Event Safety and Operation Plan, which details the procedures and equipment that the event organizers have in place to ensure the event occurs safely (details can be found at the link below). These plans must be submitted to the Board of Directors, and will be reviewed individually prior to approving the event as sanctioned by the WKABC. Event organizers are responsible for ensuring that they submit these plans for any events which include whitewater of Class IV or more difficult. Please submit plans no later than 45 days in advance of the event, to ensure there is adequate time to review them.
