Whitewater Canada Basic
Instructor
(Equivalent to NCCP L1 Technical)
Time:
15 hours
Class 5-6 hours
Pool 2-3 hours
Lake 5-6 hours
River 2-3 hours
Evaluation:
- paddling skill evaluation on flatwater and Class I moving water
- 20-minute theory presentation
- 15 minute practical presentation
- Written exam - as method of ensuring material is covered
Pre-requisites:
- Desire to instruct
- Demonstrate Flatwater Roll
- Class II paddling skills
- WKABC Member
Certification:
Nationally recognized through Whitewater Canada, the governing body for kayaking.
The certification is for 3 years, and is for people who wish to provide introductory paddling
instruction on flat water, and do introductory teaching on moving water (Class I).
