The WKABC intervened in the BC Environmental Assessment Office (BCCEAA) review of the proposed Brilliant Dam Expansion, which potentially threatened the Brilliant Wave, and the other play opts in the area. This came at the request of one of our member clubs, the Borderline Boaters.

The WKABC River Projects Coordinator met with the local club, and held meetings with the proponents, attended modeling sessions where the flows below the dam were modeled, and interacted in the EAO review of the project. After establishing the concerns with both the proponent of the project, and the EAO office, the WKABC handed the interactions on this project back over to the local club.

This project is ongoing, and the local club is now interacting with the proponent to ensure that the play features below the dam, and access to those, are not lost to paddlers.
